Blakes Welcomes Seven New Partners

TORONTO (February 9, 2009) – Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes), one of Canada’s leading business law firms, is pleased to announce the addition of seven new partners.

Our Montréal office has two new partners. Philippe Décary's practice focuses primarily on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, general corporate and securities law matters. Daniel Ferreira practises in the Real Estate and Business Groups. He has experience in the areas of acquisitions and dispositions of commercial properties, real estate financings, major real estate development projects, and leasing.

In Toronto, the following five lawyers are now partners. Ryder Gilliland has a wide-ranging litigation practice involving defamation, constitutional, securities, competition, tax, class-action and general corporate-commercial litigation. Joseph Grignano practises real estate law with a specialization in commercial leasing matters. He acts for several prominent owners, developers and tenants. Robert Kreklewich practises in the Commodity Tax & Customs Group. He is involved in planning and advising clients in connection with the goods and services tax, provincial sales tax, customs valuation, tariff classification and redeterminations, and import/export restrictions. Aaron Palmer practises in the Securities Group focusing on corporate finance, structured financial transactions and derivatives. He has advised on securities regulatory changes linked to the credit crisis and the restructuring of insolvent finance vehicles. David Shaw practises in the Business and Information Technology Groups. He has a general corporate practice with a focus on mergers and acquisitions and reorganizations.
